S.A.M.R Model
In attending different conferences and professional development, I've learned about the SAMR model and how it applies to incorporating technology into your art classroom. The IPads don't have to replace your standard art tools and curriculum, it can add to it and sometimes really enhance it in ways which were not possible previously.

As humans, we have an extraordinary abilities for innovation - find a talent. All kids have talents but we squander them and dismiss them. Creativity is as important as it's ever been. Creativity is as important as literacy and we should treat it as such.
If you are not prepared to be wrong, then you will not come up with anything original.
Today's students have become frightened to be wrong.
What's great about iPads, it provides the user with the ultimate universal creativity amplifier that can be used in a safe environment to make and learn from mistakes.

Digital Media art is Here. Get on the train....
Digital media art is coming and it's coming quickly. For the first time, the digital media arts standards were introduced and promoted at the National Association for Art Education Conference this past March
Texas is accepting digital media as their high school art credit. If Georgia isn't now, it soon will be.
Even the prestigious SCAD is offering courses in computer based - motion media, visual effects, animation, among others...

Tech is the portal for Creativity
Seth Godin's We Are All Weird, he talks about how the web has quickly become an amplifier for creativity where “tribes” of like-minded people spend hours upon hours. Godin cites “a rapid increase in the pace of creative development. Jokes and memes and images and inventions and ideas spread faster and farther than ever before, gaining both speed and valuable edits as they travel. And then they come back to us, braining connection and support with them.”
“Creation is amplified by the Internet. It enables us to reach out to tribes who share our unique brand of weirdness. Anyone, anywhere can publish to the web. Our tribes serve “as a mirror and amplifier, furthering your interests and encouraging you to push ever further.”
The iPad’s creative potential forces students to link concepts together and enhance understanding while they create products. They also learn both technical and presentation skills along the way
Honestly, the IPad is your portal to all of that.
